Enjoy the Summer Sun Beachside
Updated: Mar 13, 2020
Memorial Day weekend is the official kickoff to summer with school bells signaling their final dismissal and families realizing the beauty of the extended summer days are meant for vacation play. That's right - it's time to go to the beach. The Atlantic Ocean lined coast of Amelia Island is calling you.
Leave the tablets and mobile phones in your room, for we have miles of sun, sand, water and fresh air to provide hours of entertainment. All you need is yourself, a bathing suit, sun block and possibly some sand forming architectural tools - and you are set for the day.
Arrive early and start your summer with a dance party on the pool deck with everyone's favorite turtle, Tanner. Friday, May 24 at 2 p.m., he will kick off our summer festivities with his famous dance! Be ready to bust a move by learning the dance in advance here.
Hang around the pool deck to grab dinner at Oceanside and enjoy a family-friendly flick during our dive-in movie. Relax and let the team bring you one of our favorite poké bowls or fish tacos while you enjoy the evening al fresco.
Saturday, wake up early to enjoy a gorgeous day on our 3.5 miles of uncrowded beach. Reserve your beach cabana or elite umbrella with two chairs and have a place in the shade waiting for you all day. Boogie board, collect shells and shark teeth, splash in the waves or simply relax away your day. There is no wrong choice at the beach. Beach rentals are available throughout the spring and summer, including everything from cabanas and chairs to boogie boards and beach games. Please call (904) 753-6258 to make your reservations in advance.
Step back in time and enjoy a classic summer favorite with a Tie Dye class at Camp Amelia, Saturday, May 25 at 2:30 p.m. With a variety of designs and colors to choose from, you'll treasure your t-shirt for years to come.
If your little ones are more adventurous, sign them up for our Superhero Training on Magnolia Lawn, Saturday, May 25 from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. Create your secret identity at the costume station, test your skills with the inflatable games and practice your Superhero power-pose at the photo booth. Watch how the pros do it when Spider-Man and Wonder Woman make their appearance then enjoy a superhero movie on the big screen. Training and movie are complimentary, snacks are available for purchase.
Round your weekend out with a good old-fashioned Watermelon Eating Contest on Sunday, May 26 on the beach at 3 p.m. After you have cleaned up and collected your winnings, it's time to keep the spirit of competition alive at Heron's Cove for our annual Memorial Day Mini-Golf Tournament at 6 p.m.
Extend your stay and sign the whole team up for our Memorial Day Family Beach Games, Monday, May 27 at 3 p.m. Race across the beach and flex your skills on a variety of games everyone will love.
Some of these activities are reserved for registered resort guests and club members.
